Healing and repairing old photos

Is there a doctor in the house?
Below is a old 8" x 10" photo (circa 1968) that has seen better days. it was scanned in at 600 dpi so it could be repaired in Photoshop.

Below is the repaired Photo
The images was straightened.
The white areas of the image (from where the image stuck to the glass from it's original frame) were repaired using the Spot healing Brush tool.
Adjustment layers were added to adjust the look of the image:
Brightness/ Contrast Adjustment Layer- image darkened

Here is quick tutorial on how to add a Drop Shadows using the Layer Styles method in Photoshop. I used Photoshop CS6, but this technique will work with CS5 and earlier versions of Photoshop.

Step 1:  Select the layer that has the image/ element you want to add the drop shadow to.
Step 2:  Double click on that layer (do not double click on the name of the layer)
Step 3:  Select Drop Shadow option in lower left of Layer Styles dialog box
Step 4:  Double click on the Drop Shadow option to open up the properties of the drop shadow
Step 5:  Adjust the Drop Shadow properties until to you are satisfied with the image, click OK

Image Editing Collages MPTC Fall 2011

Students, in an introductory Photoshop course, needed to design and produce an original composition, using the collage technique. They needed to bring separate elements, that they 'cut-out' from other images, to form an original, cohesive image. Below are samples from the class. IMD –Image Editing @ MPTC Fall 2011

Foilranger art

Welcome to my blog. I will being adding artwork, instructional tips and other stuff I feel I would like to share.
This first post is my student film I created in my final year at Sheridan College of Applied Arts and Technology. The premiss of the film is that this kids tries to emulate his comic book hero. The kid gets into a small bit of trouble. The message I was trying to convey is to be careful in your choice of heroes.
